Coordinate, don’t match. A short guide to outfits that photograph well and still feel like you.
The question we hear most before a family session is what everyone should wear. The short answer: whatever you are comfortable running around in, in two or three colours that get along.
Coordinate, don’t match
Matching white shirts and jeans was a look once. Today, pick a palette (say, cream, olive and rust) and let each person wear something different within it. The photographs feel richer and nobody looks like they are in uniform.
Texture over pattern
Knits, linen and denim give the camera something to hold onto. Big logos and tight patterns pull the eye away from faces. And always bring a spare outfit for anyone under five.
